George-y, George-y

So I arrived at the airport at 7:30 on Tuesday morning. Let me tell you traveling in any airport is always quite the experience. As I crossed through security behind me all I could hear was this guy exclaiming to this little boy, "George-y George-y did you get your backpack george-y?!" Let me ask you this one thing, what kind of sick parents call their child "george-y". George is probably a pretty hard name to have in this generation to begin with...but really....haha. and if you could have heard this voice it was priceless and I could only laugh in my head.
Then I got on the airplane. As I walked down the isle I prayed that I wouldn't sit next to anyone that hadn't taken a shower. When I was just in line I could smell this stench behind me and I was like OH MY GOSH. next time you all travel, please do us all a favor and shower. Thankfully the Lord heard my prayer and I sat next to this 6th grade girl from Hawaii. She was super sweet and she even gave me a bumper sticker that says Hawaii! I felt bad that I didn't have anything in return, but I think we both became buddies so it was good. That flight was only an hour....but because of amazing airports these days I sat on the aircraft for 30 minutes on the tarmac, almost missing my flight. I ran to my next terminal just in the knick of time. Praise the Lord, I sat next to another girl who was about 15 and her father. The girl didn't speak very much english, but her dad did. And guess what! This man is the owner of one of the biggest hotels in Mazatlan. Google search "el cid resorts mazatlan". He offered to help me make connections in Mazatlan and to use his resort and he would give me passes so I could go and hang out at their spas and pools anytime I want. what a deal!!!
So I got off of that airplane and was in Mazatlan! I found my host family. I am living with a man named Adolfo and a woman named Sylvia. Also, there is another exchange student here so that is fun! They took me immediately to eat, at a place called El Bamboo haha. I ate some chicken stuffed with pear. It was very good. Then we came back to my new house...Let me tell you...I live in literally the best area and couldn't have asked for anything more. My host mom is cooking all of my meals and they are delicious! I have my own room and bathroom. They got me a Mexican cell phone and my laundry is going to be done! The Lord knew what he was doing, and by no means am I worried about the next couple of months.
The only thing I am a little worried about is the Heat. OMG. it is soooooooooo rediculously humid here...there is no escaping the heat. I am thinking that I will get used to it here in a couple days but geeez. This morning we had some clouds and I was like praise the Lord!
Last night Megan, the other exchange student and I went to Senor Frogs for drinks and dancing. I met a couple other exchange students...that was a lot of fun. I was exhausted, but it was definitely good to see the town at night. Honestly, I can't think of anything better than city lights, the beach, and the stars all combined. It always takes my breath away.
I am nervous about finding a church because everyone here is catholic and I have yet to see any churches at all. I tried to email some people at websites I found, but none have replied or some were non working emails....soooooo just keep praying that I find some Christian people, or if not just a church. I may have to just join Calvary or Freshlife every weekend morning. I don't know what I am going to do yet.
Well, I have to go. I am going to see batman again tonight...guess how much movies are here 3 bux!!! Yes indeed.
Pictures to come!
